EXPERTISE: John
is the founder of Nor-Word Text Services, and its principal translator
/ editor. He is a Professional Engineer (Ontario) and retired Canadian
government research scientist. He is a graduate of St. Francis Xavier University
(B.Sc. Geology), the University of Ottawa (M.Sc. Quaternary Geology), and
University of Waterloo (Ph.D. Coastal Sedimentology). His specialty is
aquatic environment research and contaminated sediment dynamics. He is
a certified Norwegian > English member of the Association of Translators
and Interpreters of Ontario (ATIO) and a member of the Canadian Language
Industry Association (AILIA). He is also a full member of the Swedish Association
of Professional Translators (SFÖ)As chief translator for Nor-Word, he specializes
in translation of highly technical documents from Spanish, French, Norwegian,
Swedish, and Danish, into English as well as text editing, enhancement,
and proofreading. John has more than 25 years experience as a freelance
translator and has translated literally hundreds of texts on a wide variety
of subjects, including medicine, engineering and construction, geology,
nuclear technology, biochemistry, plant diseases, forestry, and fisheries
research.
